Gentelligent processes in biologically inspired manufacturing

Production systems have to meet quality requirements despite increasing product individuality, varying batch sizes and a scarcity of resources. The transfer experience-based knowledge in flexible self-optimizing production process planning offers the potential these challenges. Biological solve conceptually similar challenges pertaining knowledge, flexibility individual reactions adaptation over time. Thus, context digital transformation, mechanisms derived from biology are interpreted applied domain technology. To be able exploit bio-inspired systems, genetic intelligent properties technical components machines were identified brought together under concept “Gentelligence”. Expanding upon this with new idea process-DNA biologically inspired optimization algorithms facilitates more flexible, learning production, which is shown three different applications. By using gentelligent it possible determine machine-specific parameters turning processes order ensure appropriate roughness within requirements. Furthermore, combination material removal simulation allows determination resulting force tool grinding for subsequent unknown workpiece geometries. As result process-DNA, workpiece-independent thus shape error compensation becomes possible.
